The 400-seat IMAX 3D Theatre at Broadway at the Beach will be the first
theater along the Grand Strand to show films in IMAX 3D which is the
next generation of the world-famous IMAX Experience the worlds most
immersive movie experience.
IMAX films have long taken viewers on journeys to places far beyond the
reach of most people. With more than 200 films available, audiences have
been taken to the far reaches of Earth, transported into the future and
put into the drivers seat through films such as DEEP SEA 3D,
Space Station 3D and NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience. |

INTERIOR
- Inside IMAX 3D Theatre, visitors will enjoy a totally immersive
experience. The 400-seat theater features steeply tiered seating decks
so that every persons view of the screen is unobstructed.
- The IMAX 3D giant screen is more than six stories tall and measures
60-feet by 83-feet. The screen has a slight curvature that enables the
images it carries to fill viewers' peripheral vision and is painted
silver to maximize the amount of light reflected back to the audience.
- IMAX 3D is made possible by the IMAX 3D GT Projection System, which
takes up about the same space and volume as a mid-sized car.

- The projection system simultaneously projects two separate images onto
the screen- one for the left-eye and another for the right-eye. Each
member of the audience must wear special, polarized IMAX 3D glasses
which channel the two images so that the viewers' brains perceive
spectacular high-resolution images.
- The theater will be equipped with a Dolby Digital Surround
Sound system that provides more than 12,000-watts of heart-pounding
sound.
